The Cross and the Lynching Tree: The Character Assasination of Bill Cosby
It is truly tragic to watch the media feeding frenzy around the allegations against Bill Cosby. In America the law says that a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty; yet the media continues to give air time to any and all allegations made against Mr. Cosby thereby indirectly lending credence to the allegations. When one considers that all major media in this country are controlled by 6 companies; hence 6 CEO’s; could it be personal between the six individuals and their cohorts and Mr. Cosby? The question must be asked did Mr. Cosby cross a line? Get out-of-place? Does he own something that someone wants?
This is no way is designed to make light of the allegations raised by the women nor engage in victim blaming. As a black man in America descendent from slaves, I know what it is like after coming from a people enslaved, tortured, and terrorized as a matter of government policy and or tacit approval for over 3 centuries only to be blamed for racism when recounting this history is a horrible feeling.
However that doesn’t negate the fact that the man has not been charged yet the media airs every allegations as if it is gospel. Here is where my antenna goes up. During the national media frenzy around the Ebola outbreak in West Africa; every major media outlet covered the story non-stop. During the height of the coverage the President of Liberia went on record and stated that someone deliberately put the virus in his country. I will repeat, the President of Liberia went on record stating that someone deliberately put the virus in his country and they should be held accountable.
You would think this would be news; especially to the media outlets that give full air time to anyone accusing Mr. Cosby of indiscretion yet amazingly not a single one of these major (6) media outlets felt this to be news worthy. The question must be asked why not? Are these news media services trustworthy or are they the instruments of propaganda for certain powerful interest that work as a cohort. It is very hard to imagine that not one of them found those accusations by the Liberian President to be newsworthy, but any women claiming she was drugged by Mr. Cosby 40 years ago is news worthy.
This brings us back in time to relentless media demonization of Michael Jackson as being some sort or Pedophile. Mr. Jackson was never convicted either; and we would learn in the years subsequent to his passing that his main accuser was in fact lying. It was admitted that the accuser had been systematically coached on a daily basis by his father to appear credible in making the allegations.
Did Michael Jackson cross a line? Did Mr. Jackson get out-of-place? Did Mr. Jackson own something that someone wanted? We now know that Michael Jackson had owned the rights to the Beatles Catalog as well as that of Elvis Presley to name a few. I believe those shrewd business moves on his part were akin to signing his own death warrant.
We know that Mr. Cosby had at one time tried to purchase NBC and CBS alternately only to be rebuffed in such manner that had overtones of a man not knowing his place. The rights to the Cosby show alone have generated several hundred million dollars of wealth for Mr. Cosby not to mention other lucrative investments. One could look at the moves that Mr. Cosby was in the process of making may have pushed him well over billionaire status perhaps by an order of magnitude.
This medicine has to be kept away from the reach of young kids, females since it could lead for certain side- effects which include blurred vision, stuffy nose, pain in the body, headache, cialis online from canada etc. but they fade away easily. For most, the viagra shop online value proposition hinges on a meaningful customer experience and personal interaction. While Mr. Cosby has been critical of segments of the black community and black culture; he has also given more money to black American institutions than all other black celebrities and business owners combined. Combined! Does that earn him the right to be critical? The money Mr. Cosby gave to Spellman single-handedly doubled that schools endowment. While no one likes to be criticized and spoken down too – I too wish Mr. Cosby would have been more sensitive in his selection of words; neither here nor there the image of the Cosby Show and a Different World were his attempt to put forward a positive image and example of black life and success to the world.
Contrast the criticism that comes from Charles Barkley who has no track record of doing anything positive to help the black community that he is so quick to criticize and find fault with.
Again this is not to dismiss the allegations of rape or sexual misconduct but this is America; and whole towns have been devastated and its residents murdered and beaten behind false rape allegations made by white women against black men. Unfortunately that is the history of the United States of America (Google Black Wall Street for more info).
If we have learned nothing else; a person is innocent until proven guilty!
